|
Willughbeia coriacea (Tenguhan) is a local fruit from Kalimantan. This vine plant belongs to family Apocynaceae. It climbs the trees around it. It has woody trunk with leaves a bit sparse. The fruit is large enough 0.3 to 1.5 kg / fruit. Fruit skin color is brownish green and become orange when ripe. Yellowish-white flesh with a distinctive aroma and flavor of fresh sweet (a mixture of soursop and guava flavors). Its flesh arranged in a numbered about 10-30 seeds per fruit, depends on the size of the fruit. Based on the fruit analysis, tenguhan contains high nutrients in vitamin A, calsium, kalium, and phosphor. Local people like the taste and usually eat the seed directly, thus the presence of this plant reduced drastically and becoming rare in nature. Their preservation then would be threatened. The purpose of this study is to provide information to the public about the potential fruit of willughbeia coriacea. The study was conducted in Munyau Village, District Sekayam, Sanggau, West Kalimantan. The method used is the direct observations to the field and took a sample collection to identify the species and grown for its growth observation. Data was collected also through interviews with the farmer groups in the village. The result shows that percentage of seed germination is 50 persen.
