Description
|
Lepisanthes amoena (Hassk.) Leenh. or buah sobo is one of the species of sapindaceae. The fruit is edible and the wood is hard. The plant is pottential for further development. This research was conducted to analyse the seed viability, to observe the germination phase and to identify the morphological character of buah sobo seedling. The seeds were colected from Bogor Botanical Garden’s plant collection. For the germination capacity observation, three replicate of 20 seeds were sown in germination bed using sand as the medium while observation on germination phase and seedling morphological character was conducted on separate germination bed by sowing 30 seeds. Seed water content was measured prior to sowing. Result showed that the seed of buah sobo is recalsitrant with water content can reach up to 48.29±0.98 persen. The seed viability is 85.00±13.23 persen. Seeds start to germinate 15 days after sowing. Seeds germination follow hypogeal type with five phase of germination process that takes approximately 42 days from phase one to phase five.
