Description	Giant bamboo: Dendrocalamus giganteus Munro & Dendrocalamus asper (Schult.) Backer e.x Heyne were bamboo species as an collection plants in Bogor Botanic Gardens. Both generally started to produce shoots on the early rainy season. Based on the information which have been collected, that growth rate of this bamboo very quickly and there was reported that this growth rate per one days 100 cm. To known the exact rate of the giant bamboo, have conducted the research on growth rate of D. giganteus dan D. asper Bogor Botanic Gardens collection on December 2009 up to June 2010 with the total bamboo shoots of each species as many as 10 culm. These results indicate that not all the shoots can be grow and develop into mature bamboo. While the shoots were success fally grown and develop into the mature bamboo have growth rate average of 0 - 9 cm per days in the early, but after 20 days its average growth rate reached 1 0 - 33.76 cm per days. The detail description of the growth rate G. asper and D. giganteus will he discussed in this paper.
