Tree architectural model affects landscape design and function, crop productivity and water conservation or canopy interception function. A survey valuating perception of park users on four landscape trees and their performance in the landscape was conducted. Good perception can generate good preferences that may be expected to result in a movement of planting trees to contribute in reducing the risk of global warming. In this research, respondents were asked to judge eight pictures of four tree botanical architecture models. Each model was represented by one species in single and mass planting. The models are Aubreville (Terminalia catappa Linn.), Attim (Casuarina equisetifolia L.), Leeuwenberg (Plumeria rubra L.) and Troll (Delonix regia [Boj. ex Hook.] Raf.). A semantic differential rating was used to measure respondent perception on the trees in detail. Respondents were also asked to determine their preference on the tree models. Respondents’ responds varied. The Troll model was most preferred by respondents because of the terminal inflorescence exposures, high visibility, brightness, openness and clearance of structure. The Attim model was judged as the model with high density by its continuous branches, finest texture, formal line, significance of silhouette and coolness, that may beneficial for water conservation. The moderately preferred Leeuwenberg model show the sense of significance structure, opening, brightness, horizontal and high visibility of interesting part. Although the Aubreville model is less preferred, this model were judge with sense of coarse texture, low visibility of interesting part, simple, high, vertical, strong, cool, clearance of structure and formal line. With those characteristics, in the landscape design point of view, the four models are potential for accent, focal point, shading and foreground. This characteristics of tree architecture models should be carried across the concept of landscape design in order to create the desired landscape that is beautiful in appearance and optimal in function while to promote global warming effects’ reduction with optimal productivity on carbon stock.
