Description

Araceae is one of rich family of plant diversity. Member of the Araceae have economic value such as foods, ornamental plants, and medicinal plants, as important as in ecological function. The Center for Plant Conservation Bogor Botanical Garden plays important roles to prevent and conserve plants species from extinction. Living collections of the Araceae in Bogor Botanical Garden is 19 genera and 39 species. Management of living collections of the Araceae is carried out by Subdivision Selection and Propagation in order to support higher growth performance. Some activities in Subdivision Selection and Propagation to handle plant collections are grouping plants based on the genus monitoring and evaluation, treatment (fertilizing, pest and disease controt, weeding}, repotting,plant propagation, domestication and hybridization.
