Food crisis which occurred in developing countries including in Indonesia, are influenced by several factors, such as fuel price raised, world population increased, climate changed and food trade speculation. A new problem will emerge if production of rice is enhanced to control food stability by increasing extensive or intensive land. Deforestation caused decreasing of forest area and losing of biodiversity as well as increasing the amount of CO2 in atmosphere. Moreover, enlarge paddies field produced more methane gas (CH4). These both gases are the biggest contributor of glasshouse effect that can lead to global warming. Food diversification is reasonable alternative to create national food security and to reduce the effect of global warming. To reach this aim, therefore the government should do food diversification campaign intensively and continuously by creating cultivation various food plants in marginal land and wild food plant species in nature such as sago palm and tuber yam. On the other hand, society support is needed to substitute the consuming pattern. Hence, rice as staple food can be reduced and food security will achieve in Indonesia.
