Description

Selat Nasik Sub District is one of five sub district in Belitung Regency. This sub district contributes fisheries production about 30 persen.of total fisheries production of Belitung Regency. This was supported by good mangrove forest (7.664,47 ha) and coral reef condition (2329,7 ha). To maintain sustainable fisheries production, good mangrove and coral reef condition should be protected. This research have done to know the coral reef condition in Selat Nasik Sub District. The Research was carried out on March - June 2007 at 12 stations in Selat Nasik Sub District waters. Observation on the habitat profile was done by qualitative method. The observation started from reef top until reef slope. The coral reef condition was observed using Line Intercept Trancect (LIT). The qualitative observation shows that the width of reef top are variated, between 50 – 300 meter, 30 – 80 slope degree and 2 – 20 meter depth. The coral lifeform were dominated by masive and foliose from genus Porites, Echinopora and Pachyceris. The total of stony coral was 135 speceis belong to 40 genus and 15 family. The quantitative observation shows that the precentage of life coral cover are between 46,0 persen - 91,50 persen with average is 68,68 persen. Based on percentage of life coral cover, the coral reef at Selat Nasik Sub District waters was kategorized as good condition
