Description
|
The utilization of natural silicates mineral in West Java are significant to increase its added value and has its benefit for securing the demand of advanced material and pharmaceuticals in Indonesia. The mining of industrial minerals, community development and research and development are the bridge for an application of production of advanced material and pharmaceuticals. Two groups of research team have been working for decades to solve and provide options to have a simple and a low cost of mineral processing. The minerals which have been chosen are perlite, bentonite and zeolite. Those resources are enourmous in large areas surrounding the coastal line in Tasikmalaya- West Java. Perlite and bentonite have been used as a raw advanced material for preserving the microorganism/bacteria called Bacillus licheniformis (L.P) and used for reducing the phenols and other organic compounds concentration in waste water treatment and has been applied, particularly, at oil refineries and sugar cane industries. The products are formed in preserved microorganism tablet. Fortunately, the products and processes involved were listed and registered for patent at the beginning of this year.
