Sulawesi is one of the big islands in Indonesia, which very important in Wallacea area. The mixed Asian and Australian characteristic of the area creates the unique flora and fauna, that may be the same or totally different from the two continents. Faruhumpenai Natural Reserve is located in South Sulawesi Province, covers a 90.000 hectare area. This is a highland forest with altitude range between 545-1832 m a.s.l. Inventory of orchid species in Faruhumpenai Natural Reserve has been conducted to study the orchid diversity in that area. There were approximately 93 orchid species recorded which consist of 44 genera, including 64 species of epiphytic orchids and 29 species of terrestrial orchids. Some species such as Bulbophyllum spissum, B. uniflorum, Eria hyacinthoides, Dendrochillum gracile, D. oxylobum, Tropidia disticha, Tainia paucifolia, Nephelaphyllum tenuiflorum, Goodyera hispida dan Anoectochilus reinwardtii were recorded as new record in Sulawesi. Then Epiblastus masarangicus, Coelogyne multiflora, Coelogyne celebensis, Calanthe hyacinthina and Notheria diaphana have known as endemic orchid of Sulawesi.
