Aegle marmelos is commonly known as majalegi, the member of monotypic genus from Rutaceae family. It is a native plant of India, and widely distributed to South Asia, South-East Asia, tropical Africa, and even to United Stated of America. In India, A. marmelos is one of the important fruit-bearing trees, because the fruit has many advantages such as its fresh fruit can be consumed and show many potentialas medicinal plants to treat various disease. From historical records, the distributions of this plant in South-East Asia areas, informed that A. marmelos entered to Indonesia in the 6th century which was taken by the people of India who spread the Hindu religion. At first, this plant was brought from India to Java, and then spread to Madura, then to Timor Island and up to Sulawesi. Based on the data recorded in the database subfield Register Collection, Bogor Botanical Gardens, A. marmelos has grown as collection plant since 1952 and has planted in the vak. III.G.97, this plant came from Pare-Pare, Sulawesi. In 1958, was recorded that A. marmelos planted as collection plants in Bogor Botanical Gardens in the vak. XV.JB.9-9a and came from Flores. In East Nusa Tenggara, this plant is found notonly in Flores but also in Timor. From data collected and other literature review, information about the distribution of majalegi in Indonesia is limited only in the eastern part of Java. This means, there has not been revision information about the distribution area of A. marmelos in Indonesia. So that, from the other supporting data it can be known that the distribution of A. marmelos in Indonesia are Java, Madura, Flores, Timor, and Sulawesi.
